11/6 What Happen To The Great "Scream Queen Movies"
In the 80's a new trend started in the horror industy, a trend led by busty babes, ample amounts of gore, nudity, and comedy. Theese movies were called "Scream Queen" movies after the starlets who usually appeared in the films, actresses such as Linnea Quigly, Michelle Bauer, and Brinke Stevens. The movies always contained hot girls (usually in various states of undress), some sort of psycho killer, long and exploitive titles, and tons of laughs. Movies such as Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-o-rama, Nightmare Sisters, and Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers started popping up in video stores across the country in the mid 80's, but then as soon as they rose in popularity they almost virtually dissapeared, with a few popping up every so often like the great Hookers In A Haunted House. Now it seems like the Scream Queen movies have been replaced with softcore horror movies, such as the films of Seduction Cinema and Mr. Creepo, which are just softcore porn movies disguised as horror movies. I really wish more directors, writers, and producers would stop making theese movies for the money (such as theese softcore movies) and start making them for the fans, we are out there and we want our Scream Queen flicks. I am proud to announce that i personally am not taking this problem lightly, i will be releasing my 1st feature in a couple months entitled Showering Psycho Sorority Sluts In The Succubus Sleep-over Massacre, it is my homage to the great Scream Queen flicks of the 80's. I hope some of you fans will check it out and enjoy it just as much as the other great Scream Queen vehicles. And I urge all other horror directors, writers, and producers to follow your hearts when it comes to making movies, not your pocketbooks.
10/26 HALLOWEEN HORROR HOLOCAUST
In recent years I've noticed a lack of horror movies on TV aroung holloween, especially on holloween. I remember when I was younger waiting for holloween to come around just so I could watch some cool horror movies on TV. Almost every channel would show a horror movie or atleast a holloween special, now were lucky if we get the crappy halloween special. Why? Horror movies are doing pretty good in theaters in recent years (even though most suck) you would think that channels would capatalize on that, atleast on holloween. There is still hope out there though, there are a couple channels showing some great classic horror films and we should all take advantage of them. The best channel being Turner Classic Movies, they have been playing a slew of old Vincent Price movies remastered, in widescreen, and best of all commercial free. I urge all of you to check out there lineup, maybe if channels like TCM get some good ratings other channels will follow in there steps next year.
10/17 Bava Bluders Coming Your Way
A new company called Kismet Classics has recently baught the rights to 27 Italian genre films, 13 of them being by the late great Mario Bava including Bay Of Blood, Black Sabbath, Baron Blood, Black Sunday, and The House Of Exorcisim. Here is the disterbing part, Kismet has plans to remake all theese great classic Bava films with "big name" stars in them, and huge budgets. The thing I find horrible about this is that Mario Bavas films are classics and the best thing you can do in tribute to a classic is praise it, study it, and learn from it, not remake it into some peice of garbage. Look back on all the remakes that have been coming out in theese last ten years (and boys theres been allot of them) what do they all have in common, hmmm lets see they all sucked really really bad, with a few exeptions. You would think that film companies would know by now to not tamper with a classic. I understand that there are many people who have no clue who Mario Bava is, lets face it over half the American public have no idea who the guy is, but to thoose of us who do know of him and really love the work he has done this is sacreligious. Another thing that bugs me about this is that people pradomentaly children, in the future when they hear the title of a movie like Baron Blood they'll think "Ohhh that movie with Julia Roberts", and thats just wrong. If theese companies really appreciate and care about theese classic movies like they claim they do, why would they go out and deliberatly try to remake a classic it just makes no sense. The only thing that makes sense to me is that theese companies who cant come up with their own ideas have to steal others so they can get the only thing they care about, money.
10/10 Servers Will Be The Death Of Us All
Today while going on the site to throw up some new Reviews and Before They Were Stars I got a shocking surprise, our server is having cuts on various free web pages. Fortunately at the time we still have web space but new upcoming sections I was planning such as HorrorVision will have to be sweep under the rug to make more room for Reviews and Before They were Stars. This is still pretty upsetting though Im definately going to start looking for a new server seeming as this one is really starting to suck, slow speed, and lots of downtime. Starting tommorrow we will have a new poll and I urge all you to vote it will help us determine what pages you really like so we can make more room for them. Dont freak out though we at Horror Movie Reviews will try our best to not be affected by this delima and we will continue to update daily (sorry its been slow lately a big ones coming tomorrow), I really think the only way this is really going to affect our site is reviews wise more than likely we will have delete old reviews to make room for new ones, but we will try to delay that for as long as possible. Well I thank you all for coming to our site making it the award winning site it is today and we will never stop bringing you the best and worse in horror, cult, b, and indie movie information thanx, remember to vote on the new poll its are only way to know what features you want more of.

10/6 Horror Movies On DVD A Godsend Or Just Plain Horrible
Recently many genre favorites have been getting the "A" treatment from DVD companies such as Anchor Bay, Elite, Image, and many others. Such rare and obscure films as Evil Dead Trap, Guts Of A Beauty, and Demonia have been popping up in your local video store remastered and looking just exellent. I personally think it is great that you no longer have to search endlessly for a crappy bootleg version of a rare Fulci, or D'Amato film. But I do find one problem with theese newly remastered DVD's. Many horror films, particularly the ones from the 70's had a grainy scratchy look that helped bring out a dark, creepy, realistic atmosphere to their movies. And with some of theese new classic films such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre being remastered it takes away a good chunk of the films atmosphere. This makes the film seem totally fabricated (of course it was), and in my opinion the reason The Texas Chainsaw Massacre scared so many people is because of its gritty dark atmosphere. Also many of theese films used thier bad film stock to their advantage, making their special effects more realistic. With some of theese newly remastered films polished up so great you can see all the major flaws in the effects that the bad film stock helped sheild, and that just makes them look horrible. The reason ive taken this time to write this article is because I have noticed allot of zines and websites encouraging people to get rid of thier old Vhs or bootleg transfers, and I say dont. Im not saying to not go buy theese new DVDs , cause i rush to get them myself allot of them are great, but if you still want to scare the hell out of your friends and family show em the bootlegs, I garuntee they'll work allot better.
10/5 Jeepers Creepers Director is a Convicted Child Molester
I did some research lately on director of the new film Jeepers Creepers and found out something truely shocking, besides the fact that his movie suxx total ass. Victor Salva director of such films as Clownhouse, Powder, and his newest hunk of crap Jeepers Creepers is a child molester. In 1988 while directing his debut film Clownhouse Salva molested the 12 year old star of his film, Nathan Winters. Here is the part that really makes me pissed off after serving 15 months of a 3 year sentence Salva was released, then he goes out and makes a film about a alienated child in the movie Powder, when not to long before he destroyed a child, alienating him from society. I still cant believe a guy who molests a child gets out in just little over a year, but i guess that goes to show our justice system in America. Its horrible, and now Salvas living a great life directing big budget films produced by such big industry names as Francis Ford Coppala, what is this world coming to.

11/26 Give Us Our Covers Back
Remember the post Scream days when you could tell a horror movie by the great covers of some psycho weilding some bloody weapon. Well it seems like nowadays almost all horror movie covers are nothing but pictures of the "hip" teen cast. I dont know about all you readers out there but I think this new trend is out of control. I know theese video companies are trying to appeal to teens but c'mon do you rent or buy a horror movie because of the "hip" cast, NO, you rent or buy it because of the violence, the killings, and maybe to get a fright or two. Ever since Scream has came out many companies have decided to market there horror movies this way and its just horrible, what ever happen to the great cover artwork of the past, which in my eyes and in the eyes of many others is just as much as a peice of art as the movie itself. I personally have given up on renting theese "Cast Cover" movies because they have another thing in common other than the bad artwork, there usually pretty bad movies as well.
